just bought a mac help with x5 transfer
Posted by Mo Gillis-Coates on January 31, 2014 at 3:05 pmHi Guys,
I just bought my first Mac, also I want to transfer all my existing programs over from windows to mac. I know I’m going to need a completely different software version, but can I do this on my current licence or am I going to need to spend thousands again on new software?Has anyone done similar that could point me in the right direction?

Sorry folks I didn’t know there wasn’t a Mac version, have found a solution though. So i thought I would let everyone know just in case anyone has the same problem.
Apparently this software will do the job,

Ive yet to buy and try so I dont know how well it works… there does seem to be a free trial though so that looks good.
Hope this helps someone else out

Can can’t transfer any Corel software to your Mac, as they don’t do it. If you’re using
Adobe CC, this is cross platform, so you can use your current subscription on either,
although not at the same time. As far as I know, most RIP software is PC only, with
the exception of Shiraz, who do a Mac version. One possibility is to use a virtual
machine on the Mac to install a copy of Windows on the Mac, then you can continue
to use your existing software and licences. -
Thanks Jamie….. yes thats the next thing i need to check.. was wondering about Rasterlink Pro…….
But its running great on an i7 machine i bought last year, such a waste of processing power though, just running my mimaki, but it’s the only pc that can run it without the print stopping half way through.
The problems when changing pc’s eh?

I’d stick with the PC’s. Macs just look posh and don’t offer anything over a PC IMO.

I was in that frame of mind Jon, till I tried one first for a few weeks… I have been building and using windows based pcs since they first came out….. I’m Microsoft through and through…. But having used the power mac for a few weeks…. I’m totally smitten. Performance over windows is amazing, never used anything so fast and solid, and that includes my new i7 system running 64 bit windows 7 pro with 36g of ram…
I’m happy that it’s going to suit my needs perfectly.
I will still run a windows pc along side it tho lol
Thanks for the input

Exactly the same here Mo. I’m definitely a PC man but I do love a nice powerful Mac. Have you seen the new Mac Pro?? Now that is quite a piece!!

Quite a piece or quite a price? lol
Loving the mac and found a program for £50 that lets me migrate and use all my windows software too… Happy days
