Is aqueous inkjet okay to use for signs graphics?
Posted by Chris Walker on 5 August 2009 at 12:19i think its waterproof, but is it suitable to use on vinyl for outside permanent signage? If not would it be okay for 2-5 years?

if you follow these rules.
must be pigmented inks
special micro porous vinyl for those inks
good quality laminate
must all be fitted dry and no pricking of bubbles.
must be edge sealed normally by the laminate being 10mm oversize.
then it might last 3 years, used to be the vinyl give up before the inks.enjoy

I have a pigment printer and have used it for vehicle graphics and sticker etc, I have had a large graphic stuck on a window in town for over a year now and no signs of fading at all. I also trimmed to the edge of the print and did not seal the edges at all and so far have had no issues.
Time will tell though 🙄

hi all
one of my main objectives with planned purhase of lfp is to bring short runs (150-200) of A2 entertainment posters (currently being offset) inhouse. without sticking a neolt xy cutter or similar in front the printer, my only option seems to be lf borderless printer. ie no solvent machine (altho GS6000 can epson .au will not support). from what ive read & been told, with the correct (micro or nano porous media) -hires 140 matt presentation paper – a borderless aqueous based printer eg epson t7000 will create fade, water & scuff resistant prints, that can be manhandled & stuck up in stores, pubs & cafes without smudging etc
please could any members experienced with aqueous printers & microporous media comment?
thanks
adrian
