Insurance company recommendations please?
Posted by Rich Cooper on October 4, 2018 at 7:29 pmHi Everyone. Ive been with my insurer for the last few years now and this renewal they have decided that they no longer insure graphics companies that install graphics to vehicles unless i have a closed locked yard while the vehicles are having the graphics applied, and class it as a high risk job.
Can anyone recommend any good reliable insurers ideally that know the graphics industry?
Thanks in advance Rich

A good starting point would be Sign Elite. http://signelite.co.uk
give them a try and ask for Annette. They specialise in providing sign companies with insurance. -
Hi Rich
I have to second Robs offer of Sign Elite, been with them since the start and a very good service.
One pointer is to make sure you know what you need covering before you call them as their sign maker package is so comprehensive that it covers just about everything you can imagine and if your not going to be needing everything then no point in paying for it.

I’ve nothng against Sign Elite but they came nowhere close to what I pay through my broker,
I have commercial combined with (I think axa) that’s tailored to me, also a motortrade policy which coveres me for driving / moving customer vehicles to £25 (this figure can be whatever you want), think I pay around £1600 a year for everything.
The only PITA is that customer vehicles are not insured if left in the unit overnight, so they need to be left outside as customers risk (they’ll be covered), and my two vehicles are only covered when I’m driving or using them for work, otherwise they need to stay at my personal address…. which is bloody stupid.. though standard with only one named driver on the policy. I als haggled to ensure my own company vehicles are insured at retail value, not trade value as we’re not strictly motor trade..
Be keen to see how differnet the Sign Elite policy is. if I recall, sign elite didn’t do a motor trade type insurance, which we need even if we’re just moving vehicles around a yard.

We use a broker too, similar sketch to Hugh, but without the daft caveats.
Drive customers vehicles, insured in the unit, our two vans are insured fully comp, social, domestic & business use.
Cash on the premises, cash in transit, cash not in the safe, the we have public & employee liability, and the premises & equipment insured, along with business interruption.
It’s fully tailored to our business.
We pay more than Hugh, but then again it’s not like for like.

Sign elite is just a broker too, going through royal insurance. We Are with a local company, about £1500 pa. insurance should be customised to suit your needs.
Edit. If you claim and an inspector comes out, if you are under covered they can penilise you. So don’t try to reduce your premium by not including things.

Not only that, but will refuse to honour a claim at all. Local auction house to me saw the entire church burned to the ground and the insurance company say he is under insured (1.2 million to rebuild apparently) and will not cover for anything at all…. They were quick to take his money though.
