Thought I would ask this question here out of curiosity…
Does anyone run a HP Latex 360 or any latex Printer via Signlab 9?

We have HP Latex machines and also UV Roland via Versaworks and ONYX RIP but someone asked me "why we don’t use Signlab?" and curiosity has the better of me now "if it works, and works well?". We only use Signlab for vector based design / cut work, Photoshop and Illustrator for all else. But I think having the option of signlab would be a good addition… I have a technician coming back to me on this but thought i would ask here if anyone has real work experience of this setup. if its compatible of course. 😀

We use sign lab 9’s VPM (visual production manager) to drive our Seiko, having used Versaworks previously.
    I know it’s not a latex machine but here’s my few points…

    A few pro’s:

Pages, say we have 20 posters to print, we set them 2 up on a page, and print 10 pages. Quicker and less processing required, than versa works where we had to either set the quantity to 20, or add it a que multiple times.

Different ques set up, so we have a que for banners, that adds the eyelet marks, and a margin to trim to, allowing for hem all automatically, posters and vinyl too are set up using the correct profiles & settings.

    Auto nesting works reasonably well.

I would say it’s quicker the Versaworks, but that may be because we also upgraded our PC at the same time.

    A few con’s:

If you’ve got 8 files nested on the roll and you want to align all 8 to the centre of the roll, clicking the centre button, actually stacks them all on top of each other.

Once a file is ripped, you can’t just double click on it and change a setting, you need to open the page, it’s just another step, but it was easier in VW.

We had an issue with importing PDF’s with different sized pages, where it would crop the larger pages to the size of the smaller. Not sure if that’s fixed since we updated.

SIgnlabs VPM RIP, currently supports the L25000 series, but not the 360 series so far. It is coming I’m told but I cannot say when.
