HP Latex Media – wallpaper, backlit etc.
Posted by Hugh Potter on February 3, 2017 at 6:38 pmHi all you gorgeous Latex owners…
I would like to make a few comparisons on prices for the genuine HP vinyls and films (wallpapers, textile, backlit, etc.) as I’m interested in trying a few of these out. Could you please who you buy these materials from? I’ve tried a couple of my usual suspects but none seem to carry much of the range.
TIA,

I believe perfect colours should stock a decent range! To be honest I never use any of the HP products, I too would be interested to see the difference with using them though!

Thanks Luke,
I did ask them for their HP range and I got a big list with all materials suitable, haven’t been through it properly but didn’t think there were a lot of the products I have on an HP latex swatch. I’ll look through it properly.Hugh

When i first bought my Hp Latex i got 5 free rolls of substrate, only 5m of each i remember getting:
HP Air Release
HP Contravision
HP Backlit Polyester
HP Heavy Textile Banner
HP PVC Wall PaperOnly having 5m of each didn’t really allow me to be able to use them on live jobs. So when a job came in id source a alternative and also ran a test on the HP substrate and to be honest didn’t really see any difference in print quality etc. So personally i dont use any HP substrate which is a lot dearer than most other substrates.

Thanks Andy,
The HP prices I’ve seen so far don’t appear overly expensive, I have opportunity to do a few jobs coming up that could be worth moving more into and the HP pvc freee wallpaper, for example, comes highly recommended by a colleague. -
I’ve run some wallpaper and backlit samples on our Ricoh latex for a couple of customers and the results were fantastic!! I used:
Metamark MD-WA – Self adhesive Wallart Artisan
This looked really good. I never get involved in the fitting of the media but I’ve heard it’s really easy to work with.Hydrosol GL Backlit – 200mic gloss
This was incredible. We ran it single strike 16p (no overprint) and the results were out of this world!!We’ve still got some of the backlit so let me know if you want any samples made up.

I’d recommend PSW Telford area we get our latex inks and HP media from them.

HughHi Hugh,
Just wondering how you got on here regarding backlit & what you settled on as I’ve been using the HP polyester backlit matt & just went to reorder with the previous supplier only to find it had increased by €60 a roll!!!! :yikes: Time to look for an alternative, Do you use matt or gloss? -

Metamark MD-T or MD-BL2 works beautiful on our Latex 360.

Ha ha! No worries, work goes like that sometimes doesn’t it, tend to get runs on things & then nothing for months. Thanks for the reply anyway [emoji106]
