  • How do you: Sequentially number DUPLICATE NCR paper?

Posted by David Rogers on December 3, 2014 at 3:26 pm

Setting up for a set of pages to sequentially number is OK but what I need to know is how to run it through as duplicate (carbonless NCR paper) so that there will be for example duplicate ‘001’ white page / ‘001’ blue page / ‘002’ white / ‘002’ blue / ‘003’ white / ‘003’ blue etc.

    Thanks

You can do this through InDesign using the Data Merge function.

The trouble is the sheets don’t come out collated in order, but it shouldn’t be too hard to rectify that in excel if they’re A5 (4 up on SRA3).

You’d have to reprint the job for each sheet of NCR (top, middle, bottom) and then collate them

Depending on your printer (assuming you’re doing it digitally) you could print all the same images without numbers and then run the sheets through again with just the number overprint, with a duplicate copy for each page, and use a mixed media setting on the rip (we use a fiery rip on our xerox) to pick use a specific tray for each page.

That will give you numbered & collated.

Or perhaps sub it out (even if it’s just the numbering) to a 1-2colour printer, who has a mechanical numbering machine.
