How do you cut out the ACM corners for making trays?
Posted by Erdy Cem on February 28, 2021 at 11:23 amHi Guys,
I saw earlier on this board, quite a few people are making their sign trays with Festool. Can you share your experiences, how do you most efficiently and accurately cut the corners out and what method do you use to join the corners?
Thanks

Thanks for sharing this and the images Kev…
Where do you buy this tool? Is it adjustable for different return sizes?
Thanks

I am not a fan of the envelope type folded corners.
I prefer to just snip-out the corners after using my Festool. Then rivet aluminium L-shape corner supports in place.
Nice snips tool, Kev!

Thanks Jeff..
How do you snip out the corner? With a tool or you just cut with a knife?

Can’t remember where I got mine, they’re available on Amazon. We generally do 50mm returns so easy enough with these things. Any bigger than that I’d just use a straight edge & a stanley knife

Once you have routered your groove from the composite. A Stanley knife will cut the thin skin that’s left of aluminium. better with tin snips as mention by others though.
