  • How do I convert RGB files to CMYK in Signlab 8.1 – help?

Hi Guys, I wonder if anyone can help, unfortunately at this stage we do not have our own Digital printer in house and set up artwork presently in Signlab 8.1 Publish it to PDF and forward it via email to our trade printer for output.Every so often we have this issue where a print run goes through and the colours get changed in the print process.Today was one of those days changing black to dark green.I have been told by our Print output guy it’s because the file was sent in RGB rather than CMYK.We only run Signlab 8.1 currently (No Corel / Illustrator )and I’ve tried to resolve the issue however when we go to the CMYK in the down menu,in Signlab it is greyed out and not selectable.Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers Steve

Steve – I don’t use Signlab these days but from memory, try this …

Double-click the colour(s) you’re using or want to change in the colour pallet – do you have an option to change it to CMYK? If so, you’ll still need to select the appropriate shade when changed to CMYK as it won’t be the same as in RGB.

    Just a hunch…

    Steve,

I think the answer may lay in the Options menu, look at :-

Options > SignLab Setup > Colour Management > Advanced. Looks like you can set the default for an imported file, my program seems to convert a Photoshop psd file saved as a CMYK to an RGB profile in SL.

Ray from Cadlink occasionally looks in on this forum if the above doesn’t answer the question we have to hope he’ll look in.
