How many different types of print media do you keep in stock?

I also have a 1600 printer but I only stock 1370 media as I feel its most cost-effective.
I don’t keep offcuts
Everyone has this same issue with not wanting to stock thousands worth of stock so I try to keep it to a minimum but it doesn’t work in reality.

* banner solid and mesh
* poster paper
* pop-up film
* lightbox film

We have others in stock but those are what we normally hold. However, I am constantly looking at ways to reduce the range we stock, and some of those listed are stocked only a few customers that have a repeat requirement. I never limit ourselves in what we can offer, but because we offer something, doesn’t mean I need to have it on the shelf. Especially when you can have almost any material we require delivered next day.

Do you laminate correx boards? asking for a friend lol, personally I don’t bother but sure does make it easier to apply.

I never do mesh banners, am I missing out on a market here. What do you use them for?

No, we do not laminate correx signs.
Although I know correx stands the test of time much longer than a few months. I term them as purely short-term promotional type signs of 3-6+ months.

Still what I class as an advertising promotional board, If the sign has to last longer I would move to a composite “hoarding” board for a sign of about a year+ and price accordingly. Here i would also offer a price option for protecting the print to increase the signs life.
I am reluctant to use a hoarding board at all, but i use it as an alternative to a foamex signboard such as foamalux etc.

However, I don’t use a “lite” version of a composite. I use branded 3mm composites like Dibond, Skybond, Rynabond and those come standard with a laminate protecting the prints.

Banner Mesh is another I don’t like to stock but we have several scaffolding companies that require them for legality over health and safety. by that i mean they want banners on their scaffold towers and a solid banner would pull the tower over like a sail in the wind. so they stipulate mesh because it is perforated.

Paper depends, but its always handy to have some blue-back paper. which most suppliers stock. it’s cheap and good for promotional posters and the like.

Can I ask what is your main business activity?
is it wrapping or vans and general signs or print house or all even?

I am a general sign maker and printer and this gives me an idea of things i may hold and shouldnt be. 🤔

* These rarely get used, and likely won’t be replaced. I can’t remember the last roller banner I printed. Similarly with PVC banners, unless it’s a decent quantity or size, I’m not really fussed and you can buy it in easily enough.

Most of the others are just leftovers from jobs. Worth keeping, and generally the original job has covered the cost of the roll.

We’ve just dropped holding ‘standard’ Monomeric and holding Polymeric with gloss and matt lam only instead, due to a very nice price drop deal.
