  • Help troubleshooting Secabo cutter installation?

Posted by Nick Ogden on March 19, 2015 at 9:30 am

I have a secabo c120iii (used). For the life of me I can’t get it to connect to my computer. I’ve tried different computers, 2 cables and reinstated the drivers more times than I can remember!! I bought some new software (drawcut), but also downloaded a trial of signcut just incase it was faulty software!
I’m rather loosing my faith in everything technical…….. Can anyone suggest my next move (I’ve contacted secabo tech support, their not so quick). I’m suspicious of the drivers but I don’t know how to check this.
    Help please……. :shake:

Are you connecting serial port to serial port?
Or is it USB port to USB port?
Or are you using a Usb to serial cable?

If its USB to USB, you need to go to Device Manager in Windows.
While in Device Manager, and with the plotter ON, connect and disconnect the USB cable a few times.
Does something appear and dissappear in device manager when you do that?
It may be under Ports, or it may be under Universal Serial Bus Controllers.
Is there a question mark or an exclamation mark beside it when its pluged in?
    Thats usually bad.
If its under Ports Com and LPT, is it set for Com10 or higher?
Some software cannot use com ports with double digits. You actually need to use a differant syntax when opening com10 or higher.

    Hi Frank,
    Thanks for the input…
I’ve tried USB to USB. Currently trying serial to USB, and yes there is a ? in the device manager. I’m getting a bit out of my depth tech wise so I’ve called in our IT guy. He refers to it as a"plug and pray" device!
I’m not used to this old technology.
Appreciate your help. We might be back yet…
    Cheers
    Nick
