Posted by Nigel Barber on March 29, 2013 at 12:31 pm

    Hi all
Went to use signlab vinyl went through the process to start to cut then get the error message "cannot open output pipe" i’ve re-installed the drivers for the graphtec ce5000-120 and signlab as suggested on signlabs site but still getting the issue.
    Is there something i’m missing???

    Thanks in advance

Don’t use signlab Nigel sorry but are you cutting via usb?? If so have you checked the usb port settings within windows itself?
If your cutting via USB do you use a converter at all?

I do cut via usb, was working fine yesterday, as for checking the port settings, wouldn’t know where to start, not using a converter, just a usb extension, have removed the extension and plugged in to pc direct, same issue

Nigel, I just got exactly the same thing.
In my case it was simple; I had the wrong plotter selected in setup, having just used a different machine, I forgot to tell Signlab that I had changed back to the Summa!
So, it suggests that Signlab found no connection on the USB or you haven’t got the plotter selected in plotter setup.

    Hi Peter,
I did go through all the settings, spoke to Graphtec in the end, they reckon its a usb fault on the machine, as it’s showing as offline on my pc.
Just waiting for an engineer now…..
