Help & advice needed for an accountant logo please?
Posted by Angelique Muller on October 1, 2011 at 9:34 pmMy husband needs a logo for his new business.
The brief was to come up with something clean professional professional-looking.
He does not want any images, etc.
So far this is what I have come up with… that bit boring maybe…
but it is accounting and tax after all 😀
If anyone has any suggestions to move me in the right direction.. it would be very much appreciated.

Angelique I dont think your upload was successful, unless this is your way of saying that you havent come up with anything 🙂

SimonThanks for letting me know… when I posted it up I checked and it appeared allright… I can try again…unless I did something that broke the board rules, and it was removed?!?(don’t think so)

This is what I had come up with…..
I just tried a ‘classic’ serif font combined with something more modern for a contemporary feel…..
Husband is pretty happy with it, but I feel as if it is lacking something…. but not sure what it is…. As I said before, I am looking for some critique to move it along a bit.I read in previous threads last week that some people feel that the forum is used as a free design service. I hope, because I am in infrequent user of this forum that I don’t get chucked into that category……Unfortunately in my circle of friends I have nobody I can ask for feedback, as this kind of work is not of much interest to them.
I have just purchased some books on-line to help me with this kind of work, but I find that critique on something I work on is more helpful than reading about the subject….Thanks

The fonts ok. Maybe it’s lacking colour?
A rich red/burgundy?? A classy colour if that makes sense?

I think it’s up to the person putting forward designs to decide if the forum is being used for a free design service.
There are definitely a couple who seem to only ever pop up when they require something. It certainly shouldn’t put people off asking for critique on their design they have posted, it’s such an important part of our business.
Personally I don’t mind helping people out with the odd design, but I feel I know who to help and who not too.
Anyway I come up with another idea for you, these types of businesses are quite hard as feel they should be a bit prim and propper.

Thanks for that Martin & David.
I see the point about the colour… I like a burgundy, but I feel it should work in black and white as well.
I like what you did Martin, with the little swirl. I tried a few things like that but it became quite feminine in my opinion… Yours makes it more of logo rather than a letterhead… I like that.
I find the ‘J’ a bit of a problem… somehow I can’t get it to work, but I had not thought about using a shade of grey… good thinking….. It is certainly food for thought.. will try to do something with it on the weekend and let you know what I have come up with….

Hi Angelique
With this type of thing simple is always better but i believe colour is great way to add that extra something once it is kept subtle.
When is it for a logo a simple coloured background works great as the text itself and the be used in black and white on different mediums while giving you a colour base for Footers / business cards etc 😀 -

Thanks for all hints and tips..
I spend ages trying to do something clever and more exciting only to realize that I was wasting my time as the highly opinionated customer (ie. husband) did not want anything like that!
So I ended up changing the type font to a classic Mrs. Eaves and I quite like that one …
I hope that, although it is very simple, it won’t offend anyone….The idea of the background is nice.. something to keep in mind when it comes to designing the website etc.
Thanks again all!
