Heating with IR heaters for wrap bay.
Hi.
We just starts adding vehicle wraps to our sign business and maybe in future just focus on that.
At this moment we managed to get small portion of bigger unit in detailing company, close to city center.
We try to adopt this room for kind of wrapping bay, enclosed space for just wrapping a cars or small vans. We have lot of space out of this bay for bigger projects, but we want to keep this room as small as possible, so it can be easier to control dust and at right temp. We start working to separate it from rest of unit, build some wall, now we ant add cladding, rubber mat floor, some ceiling (this would be redone..) and on front we would install slide pvc curtain.
Because there isn’t great insulation, and also we sub renting this and other tenant don’t want us to mess around with typical burner type heating, and also there isn’t gas connection, we found this solution of far IR heating:

I was planing to buy 2kw, controlled by wireless thermostat, which will rest close to wrapping section of car, 2x initially, maybe 3rd added later. Anyone have any experience how would this work? It isn’t heating much air, but objects underneath so I’m unsure about effectiveness of this solution. Thanks for any help.

I had infrared heating installed a few months ago. My unit’s around 130 square metres and we’ve got five heaters running off a central thermostat that keeps it at a consistent 17 degrees in here. Very pleased with it so far.
We’ve got three exposed walls and very poor insulation. Our electric bill went up about £200/month when we turned the heating on, so it’s not cheap to run but the initial outlay wasn’t too high and I was able to grant towards it.

Well, Its only 55sqm atm, and I only want it to heat up like 30sqm, basicly above wrapping car was thinking to buy 2 units, and maybe one controlled separate above working bench. There will be 2 pvc clear dividers / curtains to close down wrap area, just to work around car and ideally during wraps want to keep it warm like 20 degree. Ceiling is just tarpaulin membrane, which will be better sealed and stretched, but landlord is not allowing me to put even some foam boards or other light type of ceiling so it will be loosing some heat by there, and one wall only, brick one, is cold one – thinking to insulate it from outside.. Rest walls are internal, but detailers I share unit with have doors open very often.. It must be enough for start up. Do you have any photos of your workshop? What watts your heaters got?

we have industrial thermostat-controlled workshop heaters that are basically glorified storage heaters that you would find in a house. They work great, not expensive and create a nice regulated heat.
I had a quick look online but couldn’t see the same as we have. but this picture from our website shows a part of one in our vinyl production room. You can see just the size of the heater, and the air is vented into the room via small vets at the bottom.
This works perfectly for us and we have them in multiple workshops. but you can also have a large heater in a single room with ventilation tubing run from the vent to wherever you want the heat in other rooms.it works by storing heat that is accumulated "during the night" while electricity is on a cheaper tariff. then you use it during the day via its stored heat, which is instant.
The room is measured prior and the recommended storage heater is specified to cater for that space.IR heaters are great but it is more of a direct heat source rather than warming the room, air etc. which is ultimately needed when working with vinyl.

Hi there, I also have my workspace heated by long range infrared heaters, 4 each 4000 watts.
The great advantage is that it does not heat the air, but the objects placed under it, so for me ideal for wrapping because when heating a van, the metal warms up from top to nearly bottom. The hang at around 4 metres above the ground…Brand is Thermelec
