hand painted signage: crest excavators
Posted by Neil Davey on December 17, 2007 at 1:48 pmThis one reminded me of how it was years ago.
Turn up at the customers premises and be given a piece of paper with the ‘job spec’, have a quick chat about colours and style which usually concluded with ‘oh I’ll leave that up to you.
Anyway this is what I produced from said ‘job spec’.
All paint and one coat of 1 shot at that.
It was so damp and wet on the day that I had to heat the areas with my hot air gun before lettering to get rid of condensation!Brian Little replied 6 years, 11 months ago 8 Members · 11 Replies -

Ain’t it b****y cold!
Thanks Jill, basic brushwork but still effective, an SAS job, get in, get the job done and get out before anyone notices!!
Chris, the opposing curves don’t present a problem with paint but I do plenty of these in vinyl to know where you’re coming from 😕

Neil.
those counter weights on diggers are a pain, even in summer, because of the mass, condensation can still be a problem, paint or vinyl dont like water.neat job though, and shows sometimes paint can be quicker, if I do a digger it will need 2 visits, one to measure and photo, and one to fit.

I think Ian was referringg to the abuse these machiness get, rather than the materials,

Yep Peter, These get a lot of abuse and the counter weight is the worst apart from the bucket, Still a nice job though!

Terry, this artwork was on a clean piece of paper too, not the back of a cigarette packet!
Quite a few of these civil engineering co’s prefer paint to vinyls, maybe some are traditionalists or it may be that it is harder to remove if the plant was unfortunately stolen.
