    Hi,
The blade holder of my Graphtec CE6000-60 has just snapped and I find this very weird.
I haven’t had many vinyl cutters but I’ve never heard of this before.

The blade holder came with the new machine about 18 months ago and I only used it to cut standard sign vinyl. I have never cut thick vinyl, textile vinyl or anything else that could have forced this to snap.

I keep spare blades and cutting strip but it never crossed my mind to get a spare blade holder so this is a good lesson to learn.

I really want to hear from you if this is something common.

    Cheers

Chuck it in the bin, and get some smart knives from Edward Mathias.

Never seen nor heard of that but by the looks of it probably due to being over tightened all the time.
Nothing wrong with the smart knifes but for not a lot of money you can get holders and blades from the e place that work just fine. I have several holders with different blades in for ease of changing over.

I have actually requested a trial from them to see how they work.

But in the meantime I managed to bodge it up with a soldering iron. It works fine so I can do bits and pieces until I get a new one.

My holder done the exact same. I’ve moved to smart knives and I won’t be moving away from them!

I would agree with chris and recon your probably over tightening it for it to split in the plastic thread like that mate.

Smart knives are pre-set cutting blades. Made from very good materials and long lasting. Sharpened at the correct angle and set at the correct depth.
So all you do is replace the original holder and blade, set the machine to the correct pressure and away you go.

They are a direct replacement for the blade holder and the blade itself. You pay a little more for the initial purchase, but then you pay a minimal fee for an exchange of the smart knives.

I purchased 2. So as soon as one needs replacing, I use the spare and send the old one off for exchange. Very quick turnaround as well. Pretty much the next day.

Have tried to upload an image (first time so not too sure it will work). The original Graphtec blade and holder at the bottom and the smart knife at the top.

I heard back from the supplier where I bought the machine (still under warranty) and they said that Graphtec will replace it free of charge because it was part of a batch of faulty blade holders.

    What a great service!

Otherwise, it’s a consumable item not covered by warranty.
