GGR Group reaches new heights by bringing HP Latex printing in-house
Lifting solutions expert GGR Group has invested in HP Latex technology, allowing it to bring signage and decal printing in-house and offer a valuable new service to its blue-chip clients.
With depots in Manchester, Haddenham (near Thame) and Glasgow and a network of dealers across Europe and the UAE, GGR Group is a specialist supplier of lifting products for loads of under ten tonnes – such as mini-cranes for construction sites and glazing robots for installing windows. Its machinery has been used for numerous major infrastructure projects including HS2, the London 2012 Olympics and even for installing windows at the very top of the Shard.
Its cranes, lifters, robots and other equipment often require printed decals or signage – the end user’s logo, or loading charts and instructional labels in one or more languages – and this work was previously outsourced to digital print service providers. However, frequently the turnaround provided by these third parties was not fast enough to meet customers’ demands.
As GGR Group has grown and its requirements have developed, the business has added new services and in-house teams such as graphic design, web design and print. The addition of a signage and decal service was the next step, and one that made financial sense.
Daniel Ezzatvar, Marketing Manager at GGR Group, explains that the decision to invest in an HP Latex 315 printer, supplied by ADAPT, was made by its procurement department rather than staff who would be using the printer.
"The procurement team worked out the spend of outsourcing print against bringing it in-house and then looked at a number of machines in terms of cost, ease of use, quality and support. The HP Latex 315 won out," he explains.
"Of course, HP has a reputation that precedes it, but this was calculated by laymen who were not from print industry, so they were not biased in their decision. The ROI is expected in two years.
"Moreover, taking control of our display print production allows us to respond to customer demand at the drop of a hat."
The HP printer was installed at GGR Group’s purpose-built premises in Haddenham in the middle of October. Thanks to the HP Latex 315’s compact size, ease of use and safe water-based inks, it is an ideal solution for businesses like GGR Group who are taking the first step into the in-house production of vehicle graphics, posters, banners, decals and more.
While the investment decision was made by a finance-focused team, Daniel Ezzatvar is one of several GGR Group employees that have a background in print.
He comments: "The investment of the HP Latex 315 is a new direction for us as a company but within the marketing department there is a wealth of experience with print, so there are opportunities for us to impart our knowledge. We’re looking forward to using the new system."
