Nice work as always Kevin, always enjoy seeing your stuff.
Was the Tractor Unit done with knifeless tape, or cut on the plotter?

Thanks mate, we do those lorries as print & cuts on clear.
    Really fast installation.

Interesting, never seen this done on clear before but as you say installation must be simple.
I always assumed the vehicle outlines would not be spot on enough to match up but obviously, they are.
What clear did you use Kev?

Image perfect on that mate, never use vehicle outline libraries either, just a photo with a ruler & magnets works perfectly

Always good seeing what you have been up to Kev, nice one mate. 👍

Have to say, I would never have thought about printing the truck graphics onto clear for those lines. I am not sure how it would compare like-for-like to cut vinyl, but on multiple vehicles, it is a great idea and would really speed up the installation process even with one or more.
Looks like you have made a good job of the lines to the body shape too, nice one!
As you say, scaled up photos are often the best way to create your own template.

I think the whole Vespa scene seems to be coming back. we have had at least 3 requests for wrapping parts of them in the past few months. It hasn’t been worth our while due to the severe dome shape and time it would take to wrap them, but doing it like you have in print and cut graphics would have been a much better option for them but they don’t want to listen. 😏

all great work, thanks for sharing mate.

The Scooter side panels were wrapped Rob, just the lorry graphics were print & cut. We do quite a few fleets like that, generally uses a couple of metres per lorry for the kit, around an hour for a 1 man install

I can see it’s wrapped now mate, completely overlooked that. nice one!

The last guy that came in wanted a colour matched candy apple metallic red with a target printed into it. then wrapped over a severe domed shape. probably similar to where you have the graphics on yours, but his a boxier shape but still domed, curved. hard to explain.
I could have printed onto a metallic cast white but I’m then buying in specific media.
I then have to do the colour matching trial and error process.
You then have the wrap to apply. and keep in mind this is a “round target”. if it went on spot-on, sure as sh1t the target circle will distort with the heavy stretching.
I hate jobs that all the way through the process i am thinking if he doesn’t get perfection, he is not paying me!

I ended up just sending him to one of my mates who does traditional signwriting and air-brushing, and is excellent at it. as I gave him the details he muttered… “thanks mate, but these air brush guys charge a fortune!”. 🤨 😏 🤣

I totally agree with Simon, Kev. All of it is excellent mate.

One thing many sign companies struggle with is a balance on great sign making, vehicle graphics, installation and design. some guys I see doing great installations but the designs are poor. some have great design skills but couldn’t wrap a sweetie. You appear to have a very good balance on them all which I think is why when you post lots of what you do, they all tick the boxes!

I really like this. I love the colour balance in the design. very smart.

    thanks for sharing mate.

Thanks chaps, we had this conversation last week. We all face the problem of design agencies sending in layouts that look great on screen but are a nightmare for the fitter as the designer has no knowledge of the challenges they present with a 2D design that goes around corners & the roof.

Easy on screen, not in reality. The best design generally comes from people who have spent a long time installing & know how minor tweaks to a layout can make the fitters job a million times easier. The same applies to outline libraries. A thin line that’s barely noticeable on screen could be a huge bulge or compound curve on the real thing & make all the difference to a fast install or hours of wasted effort that nobody ever notices. Lost count of the times we’ve been sent layouts from agencies on a nicked vehicle outline template only to find out on fitting day that there’s a huge grained plastic trim where there should be a body crease. Never trusted them

Thanks Martin. I actually bought that machine printed into the design on the back door so I guess it must be working for them😀

Apologies Joe, didn’t see your comment. Many thanks for all the comments. Sorry if it’s all vans. Vehicle livery vs shop fronts is usually 95/5 at mine
