After not resolving our printer problems with numerous head cleans manual cleans etc we have bitten the bullet and bought a new printhead from Digiprint supplies as many people recommended on this forum. I wondered if this was just going to be a straight forward like for like swap or if the fitting is more involved than that and if so can anyone tell me how to do it?
    Thank you

Best to get an expert in to change it. You can do more harm than good trying to do it yourself and it could end up costing you more in the long run if you try to do it yourself.

as phill says, it is doable to a techy sort of person. but can also be an expensive exercise.
I have changed various parts on my machines over the years, but little bit here and there… i have changed a print head but to be honest, as much as it was i managed to strip back the machine, install the head etc… it wasn’t aligned properly and a few days after i had a technician come in and get it spot on.

if you do plan trying it, make sure you take a series of pictures to help you get things back where they belong. nothing worse finishing the job, smiling at your achievement, turn round and there’s a little plastic clip and a few screws lying behind you. 🙄 :lol1:

alternatively, you could call Colin Tupmen who i have used a good few times now… https://www.uksignboards.com/viewtopic.php?t=22938

My husband is that way inclined, we just wanted to check if there were any instructions on how to do it, especially if any additional programming is required. Is it just a straight swap and you’re up and running again, please?

You will need to input the head ID into the printer………this on a printed sticker on the head.
Take a note of it before fitting.

They’re not that complicated to do on the Uniform printers if you know which end of a screwdriver to hold. The only place you might get stuck is the calibrations. Just check, and DOUBLE check that the power cable is out and that the power is switch is ON on the back of the printer. That way any power will be fully discharged and the risk of you blowing your mainboard and/or head driver board is massively reduced.

    Best of luck.
