• Duratran supplier UK

Posted by David Rogers on October 27, 2021 at 2:47 pm

Been a wee while since I’ve been on here. Work’s been mad, juggling a lack of staff, workload, time in the day and some sort of life…oh, and having a heart attack a few weeks back, just for good measure!

Anyway – needing a quality transparency film for backlit LED frames & lightboxes.

Used DURATRAN years ago and was fairly pleased with it.

Is there a quality alternative (vibrant colours, solid blacks – light on or off) – used papergraphics version and it’s all a bit ‘meh..pasty and washed out’ – mind you, the ink density is an issue running solvent anyway.

    or a UK supplier?

    Help appreciated as always.

    Dave

    Hi David,

Nice to hear you are back on your feet.

Kernow coatings produce a good backlit film (front print). Iā€™m not sure who sells it in your neck of the woods.

Just looking, print solutions supply a Folex backlit film

    We’ve used Metamark MD-BL2 before.
Seems to work OK, never had any complaints.
We usually matt lam it as well, so help with scuffs.
Might be worth double hitting it to get the density when backlit, but from memory, I think we only did a single pass.

    Hi David

We seldom buy the material but do keep it for a couple of customers. I am sure we get it from Spandex. Not sure if the brand is the same as what you are after but it prints well and has no reaction to the heat from our latex machines.

Really sorry to hear about your health scare mate. As has been said, wishing you well and a speedy recovery David. šŸ‘

Thanks all. – for the well wishes and the film advice.

Have sampled the job to the customer with single and double pass – ran stupidly slow and they turned out gorgeous…yet to see what they are like backlit on his boxes…
