Dave Rowland says… "ello" again.
Posted by David Rowland on June 7, 2005 at 3:52 pm‘Ello
Some of you have seen me post over the last few months and I did stumble across this site a few years ago, it is a great site and hope to join up in a bigger way, wanted to talk to my collegues first but thought I would update the profile as I have posted a fair bit now.
My name is Dave Rowland, I work for a number of companies as an assistant to print/sign production, my main skills are computers as I am a programmer but have spent over 10 years working in printing from t-shirts, silk screen stickers/production printing, digital printing leaflet & inkjet, litho and the last 2-3 working mainly with the Sign Shop/Signs of Success in Barnstaple in North Devon learning the trade of Signage. I have been involved with Signs for over 10 years but I lack the physical signage skills but I am well adapt with the design and systems softwares Shiraz, Fiery, Corel, Adobe etc).
So, I have always been someone who likes to help out and hope to offer some assistance to someone here.
Cheers

Ello Dave
Crikey 2003, it’s taken you a while to say hello but better late than never.
Good of you to take the time to give us all a bit of an update and add your pic.
-
thank you carrie. 80 vs 2000 post count and moderation on top, only 6 months between our registrations and you could be termed as a “post count junkie!”
-
quote Dave Rowland:you could be termed as a “post count junkie!”Makes a change from being a “font spotter” or one of many other names I seem to have gathered along the way.

Hi Dave,
I’m a post junkie. I have been attending meetings though and I think with a little help from my friends I can make it through this problem.
Thanks for the background info, I’m sure I will be asking you for help soon. ๐ Do you want to do more production work on signs or are you more happy designing them?

Howdy Dave.
I have quite a few posts chalked up myself.
Glad ya finally introduced yerself.
Love….Jill -
hi dave
will probably be asking you for a few tips on the computer side of things!! ๐
great to have you on board!!Nik

welcome aboard mate, good to have you and thanks for loading your pic. ๐

Carrie, Dave…
you could be termed as a “post count junkie!”
Makes a change from being a “font spotter” or one of many other names I seem to have gathered along the way.Indeed, Keeper of the Shovel, Watcher of Fonts, Partaker in the Scooby Fest, Raider of the Lost Post and Handler of the whip.
Now Counter of the Posts can be added with no problem at all!Hi and Welcome Dave
We’re all sane. well, most of us are.
you can tell the people who are a little nutty as their names appear in different colours in the Who’s On the list
Cheers, Dewi -
Well well well… it’s now 2019 and UKSignboards is speedie on my screen, was a while ago that this place was very slow and also with so many changes over the years. I haven’t been here for a while, I no longer connect myself as a sign maker, I am now a postman and still self-employed and doing non-sign making work however recently got back into the T-Shirt printing game but no equipment here.
How things have changed since 2005 / 14 years ago since I became part of this group and sure enough became a regular back then, many of you became my friends but hardly speak now, birmingham NEC became a focal point of the calendar, many times we would end up until the early hours in some dodgy venue wasting all of our money !
So, what happened to me? I moved on from the Sign Makers I was part of but at the time many things happened that some of you know, I lost my Dad and I had many issues in my personal life, made some very difficult decisions and lost a another person in my life as well as helping my mother fight a cancer scare.
After some very difficult times over the last five years I was free of a burden but ended up with without much money to even live on, I joined Royal Mail 4 years ago and only working part time, still part time and I also work with eBay / Amazon and now some online work, I have over the last four years attempted to rebuild my life after the difficulties I have had.
So, I am currently watching StarTrek Discoveries at this moment, playing around online and I thought I would see how my old friends are doing. Hope all is well
Dave Rowland aka Mimaki Green Giant !

Sorry to hear of your struggles Dave. Your contributions in the past were good and often entertaining. Thanks for checking in, and all the best on the rebuild… Dave 2.0.

Good to see you posting back on the boards instead of through letterboxes Dave! ๐
You have me on Facebook, so you know I keep up to speed on what you are up to and the hard times you have been through also mate, which cannot be easy!
It is good to see you back on the boards and for what its worth, I think your knowledge on many things sign and print related maybe wasted in your current line of work. I know you helped many out here and off the boards while you were a regular on UKSB.quote David Rowland:many of you became my friends but hardly speak now, birmingham NEC became a focal point of the calendar, many times we would end up until the early hours in some dodgy venue wasting all of our money !hey! there was nothing wrong with those late nights after the SignUK Exhibition, it was "networking" Dave… Networking mate! and many of us still network at the shows… next one coming up in a matter of weeks! ๐
Joking aside, I hope to see more of you mate and as Duncan says, I wish you all the best mate!
-
Thank you…
Networking eh…. I am very good at networking but the protocol is rather dodgy
-
Hi Dave – good to see you back on these boards
-
Hi Dave,
sorry to hear things have been tough for you.
lots of the old guard that were prominent posters here 12 or so years ago have disappeared,
maybe like me they read now more than post. All the best
John

Hello Dave
Hope your well mate.
Good to see your on the mend!
-
Hello Dave [emoji869] you still on my Xbox friend list [emoji23]
-
Hello once again, I am back ! for a few minutes at least.
Hope all is well, since the last few years I been involved with fixing Arcade Machines and we run a arcade bar that been shut-down right now, some of you will know will know what I am talking about.
I am at the verge of starting back up doing vinyl for machines, so I need to ‘learn’ what’s changed in the last 5 years, I also need to find out how I can go about printing when I have no equipment what-so-ever.
So, yes … hope all is good..
Dave -
Dave, great to see you again mate!
You are not alone…
Nicola McIntosh
Andrew Boyle
Amongst at least 3-4 other first time users of UKSB have appeared again on the boards in the past few weeks.
Always good to see some old faces resurface mate. feel free to chip in when you have time! -
Hey Dave,
Good to see you again, if for just a few minutes.
Hope all is well, the arcade business sounds interesting.
I saw Nicola make a very brief appearance the other week but missed Andrew.
Take care mate and look forward to future posts now your dipping back in [emoji5]

I would imagine arcade machines to be a great passion of yours Dave knowing your interest in old computer games? Can’t you use a trade printer to print the vinyls for you? You of course could design the wraps artwork yourself. Sounds like a lot of fun and would love to see some examples?
-
Dave! Is it time to roll the calendar out again? Where’s Peter?

Alan Drury
George Elsmore
Phil HallingBloody hell, where you all hiding around the corner with Andrew and Nicola? ๐ ๐
also…

I love looking back over some of the old posts, the old Friday night club was so much fun!
I’m still friends with many on fb though, even if we don’t often talk it’s nice to see how people are doing!!I guess Fb is largely to blame for the lower use of forums, there was a time on here.. if you made a post at midday, by 6pm it would be off the front page if it hadn’t been replied to!

It’s been a while and MR Fenton guessed exactly what sparked me to come back here. Look for trade solutions lol but I don’t even remember the rules here lol
So many faces , bringing a smile to me !!!
What’s a Mimaki now? no idea

It’s that time again where I blow the dust of the cobwebs and wish you all a happy summer. I am back a little, I been doing a little corel draw with vectors for t-shirts mostly, i been getting my friends businss on the go with signage , did a little frosting on my shop windows (yes i have a shop which is more of a workshop). I have big plans for it. I am also back on/off with the old sign makers and trying to fix up our Oce. Still doing a little bit with Royal Mail, also do a lot more then that but this is a kinda hellio once again.
So hope you are all good and keeping out of the sun
-
Hey Handsome,
good to see you say hello again! I don’t get on much these days, I guess mainly fb and social media to blame but, I’m slowly winding fb (the worst) back and spending a bit more time here!
you kept the sign work quiet, I haven’t seen you mention it on fb!
-
i am in the same frame of mind with social media. I find fb as nothing more than a free-for-all.

2003?
You have used this website slightly longer than i have been in the industry! ๐คจ -
Im not that old at 47 ! shesh… boards has been responsible for my sign making knowledge after working with a big outfit in the SW..
-
Not you again? Gawd, you’ve had more comebacks than The Spice Girls….
Seriously though, It’s good to see you back in the sign game Dave
-
Good to see you back on the board’s Dave!
And I am glad you have retired your Mimaki Green Speedos mate. At least I hope you have. ๐ฌHave to say, what a missed opportunity you have had over the years. Think of the number of doors that you could have dropped flyers for “Daves Sign Shop” through the letterbox while on your day to day Royal Mail travels! ๐คจ
-
I see your jokes haven’t improved in all this time. ๐ค๐คฃ
-
see a lot of people look up to you rob… see ur skills in sign materials, see ur knowledge in wrapping…. most of them are dwarfs
-
-
-
no danger of that Robbie, I haven’t found the for sale secton yet for my old vinyl
