    hi there,
i have now twice lost two mornings worth of work, illustrator just goes into big pixels and I lose everything….ive been backing up at regular intervals…does illustrator not have an auto backup like corel when it fails….I was lead to believe illustrator was alot more reliable than corel….not seeming to be the case!!
anyone know how to salvage these files…I can open in cs3,but only what is on the print page…everything else has disappeared.
    thanks for any help
    Cheryl

I know that there is no way of retrieving the files…was just asking for a miracle…
redrawing again in tiny sections…lost trust in this software tho..

    Hi,

When it crashes is the PC still working or has the entire PC froze, if it has froze, big pixels may be a sign of the graphic card on its way out.

Have you got plenty of RAM? Illustrator likes a lot…4GB minimum, preferably 8 or more. The other thing is are you running other programs at the same time? May be
worth running Illustrator on it’s own. Sometimes, jobs can show up in the ‘Open Recent
    Jobs’ after a crash…(if you’re lucky…)

Cheryl, could be down to a number of things and maybe not the software. what computer are you running it on? PC or Mac? Bit more detail about the system would help as well.

Its easy to upgrade the memory. Don’t buy from Apple though.

My CS5 (iMac 24" i5 4Gb DDR3 RAM) keeps running out of memory. So Basically it’s crashing on me. There are a lot of pages with a lot of dimension lines in the most recent file Ive been working on. FreeHand MX never choked that bad on me though. would like to put more RAM in, but I’m at the mercy of my company on that front.
