  • Corel X7 Color washed out when exporting jpg to Versaworks

    Hi,

I am using x7 and roland Versaworks and I have been having the following problem:

If I import a jpg and then export it as a pdf with a cutline, the the color is washed out.

I think the color settings are wrong, but I am not sure what has been changed, as I also work with someone who is less experienced at Corel Draw.

This printout shows what is wrong: the brighter one was printed from Versaworks directly, the other was saved as a pdf in X7

    These are the current settings:

The Versaworks setting is Prepress US, I have also tried Max Impact, there is no change in color to the pdf with the embedded jpg.
The pdf is exported as an PDF/x-3 and the colour setting as below:

does anyone have any ideas? I have tried many settings, now starting to pull my hair out!!

    Hi
what colour palette are you designing in RGB or CMYK if CMYK let Versaworks do the conversion not the PDF. Have you loaded the Roland colour palette to Corel

    Hi Kev,

the standard colour setting on Corel is RGB. I have tried changing it to CMYK, but the output is the same.
Yes, the Roland Colour palette is loaded, the problem only exists with a embedded jpg in a pdf, normal vector drawings are fine.
Maybe I will check with a eps file, though some of those were causing errors in opening the file, that why I changed to pdf.

    Thanks,
    Dom.

    Hi
looking at the screen shots you are converting to CMYK when exporting to PDF which may be a problem let VW do it, also i attached a file on setting VW intents up basically how it deals with vector & raster images within VW which may help you

    Hi Kev,

thanks again for having a look at this, this morning I have tried saving as an eps. The output as an eps is also washed out. Also, if you preview the pdf file it is also washed out, but if you load it into x7 it is fine.

Ha! I cured this by changing the pdf output to prepress, not x3
That reminds me that a few months ago X7 cost all the export settings.
    Thanks for all your help.
