Colour change from AI to Flexisign – help please
Posted by Ewan Chrystal on July 19, 2013 at 3:02 pmHi All,
A customer sent me this eps to make a sign. I opened it in Illustrator and saved it. I then opened it in flexisign and the colours have changed completely. Does anyone have any ideas why this is? First pic is AI file, second is the flexi file.Martin Pearson replied 10 years, 9 months ago 5 Members · 15 Replies -

is that AI PDF the same ? just opened in AI and that Green strip with writing at the bottom doesn’t exist ?
I don’t use Flexisign but could it be the colour profile? is it worth changing to a standard CMYK first ?

Is it printing different or does it just look different on screen?
PS the design needs some breathing space.

I haven’t tried printing yet so yes at present it is just on screen.
The design is the customers but i will bear your comments in mind. Thanks -
Its probably just the way it shows in flexi then. Same for me
If anyone knows how to set up the preferences in Flexi to display colour accurately then let me know as I have the same thing.

Ok, i printed them both out and they are very clearly different colours. Both AI and flexi are set to CMYK. I’m a bit stumped. I am sure it is something simple that my inexperience has flagged up, i just dont know what.
If i post the original AI file could someone have a look at it for me? -
Ewan
go to edit then colour then select input and see if "use embedded profile" also check if soft proof is enabled its in the View menu 5th one down.Kev

Didn’t work unfortunately Kevin. Still opened as green in flexisign

Have you tried opening it in illustrator & then saving or exporting as a different file type, say export as a PDF or EPS & import that into flexi, worth a try & sometimes works for me when I am having problems importing files.

How bloomin simple was that. It was an EPS so i saved it as an AI file and now all is well with the world.
Well done Martin, and thanks -
Ewan
it can only be a setting you have wrong somewhere we use EPS files all the time from corel to flexi from illustrator to flexi with no problems -
Funny thing is Kevin, so do i, but for some reason this worked. You’re probably right about a setting, i guess i’ll find it some day 🙂 there is so much to learn in AI that it may take some time

Still having problems. I’ve now got it on my flexi screen the correct colour but it is printing very green looking. Its in RGB on flexi, so i changed the printer settings to RGB. It did change it a bit but not much

Have you tried printing from illustrator to see if you get different results Ewan? Have you got your screen & printer calibrated so the colour you see on screen is the colour that prints??
