Was told the Marquee was PVC but it turns up Canvas….

I was about to ask what the best paint for canvas was… and then thought doh…. ! ask an artist… however I’m not sure..

I need to paint a very basic design onto a canvas marquee / tent. It will need to have a product life of about 6 months. where it will be rigged and de-rigged approx 8 to 10 times…
Its not a hired marquee so I don’t have to worry about getting it off either…

Any ideas what the best paint to use would be ?

You can use ordinary emulsion paint. The only trouble is if it is being folded it will crack and look ugly. Canvas is a pig to paint, if you have never done it try out on a scrap piece first. Do not try and use a vinyl mask….you will be sorry! :police2: :no1:

As Mike says. I used to signwrite a lot of shopfront awnings which were canvas. It will crack with folding.
Perhaps offer a banner that can be fixed somehow to the Marquee?
Also you aint going to get the paint off t the end of the hire period!!

I’ve had very good results in the past using screen inks – Polyplast. No problem with cracking.

We did ours with screen printing ink rolled onto it via mask.

But we have done one that was quite a heavey weave and the ink bleed under the mask, we covered it up with a small hand painted outline in black…
