So we’ve just had a customer, who’s been promising us a large order of these stickers we print and perf cut, drop it on us at the last minute!

Usually not a problem, but as there’s 18 designs, and 200ish, of each, we’ve got the print done, but perf cutting it taking a lifetime.

I’m thinking pop the felt cutting strip on, reduce pressure and increase the speed.

Anyone got any tips on how to get a decent cut, without it taking a lifetime!

We full cut for 50mm then miss 2.5mm then full cut again for 50mm, so on and so forth. I know it’s too late now but it’s also handy to set them up on sheets approx a4 size and put for example 8 per sheet. Perforating 200 stickers becomes 25 sheets instead.

When adding a perf line rounded edges are also great to perf instead of 90 degree right angles

I shall try doing longer perfs.

They all need to be single stickers, some a circles, or squares, others are shield shapes and more complex.

I think its going to be a long day 🙁

We gang them up on larger sheets to perf cut, then pop the sheets out and guillotine them. Doesn’t help if you don’t have a guillotine though….

Yeah we’ve and SRA2 guillotine, doesn’t help either they’re either circles or other bizarre shapes.

Given Dave’s setting’s a go, put the felt cutting strip on so using less pressure, it’s noticeably quicker and I don’t have the constant tap, tap, taping of the pen doing tiny cuts

Not an action packed day of popping the sodding things off the roll

We tend to kiss cut the shapes on a square or rectangle, then panel out & trim.

You mentioned popping things off rolls. Another thing we’ve started to do if we’re doing. A pile of stickers the same is 1st gang them up onto approx a4 sized sheets, print and cut approx 1m of stickers, have the machine automatically cut the sheet so it drops on the floor. When we have about 5 sheets cut, stack them on top of each outer and push out 5 sheets at a time. Saves a massive amount of time but only really useful if you’ve a print and cut machine so you don’t have to keep feeding sheets back into a cutter to get cut separately.

With hindsight I should have kiss cut and used a square/circle perf cut for the background, it wouldn’t be a problem for the smaller quantities where we have a week to turn them around.

Good idea on popping them out multiple sheets at a time

We’re making better progress than I anticipated

This is how we do them – magenta line kiss cut, cyan line panel out, and then trim to crop marks.

All was going well, but we’ve now hit a problem.

The rip has printed say 3 sets of crop marks, but when I come to cut some, it adds another set, which arent there on the media.

Re-rip the file, and it goes back to what is printed, but when scanning the plotter throws an error out of x area :bangshead:

Pissed off doesn’t cut it. There’s no rhyme or reason to it.

Turned off segmented registration marks, so now only using the 4 in the corners
