  • Advice needed on cutting sparkle / foil garment flex please

Posted by Billy Lawton on December 18, 2013 at 10:32 am

Hi fellow Graphtec users – I successfully cut normal garment flex on a regular basis, but as a favour I’m trying to cut some red sparkle foil (xmas t shirt!) and my blade doesn’t cut through, so when I weed the complete foil comes off, there is a slight indent where the blade has passed, but no cut.

I tried lowering my blade by a couple of turns, but still no joy.

Could anyone help please, am I missing something here?

    Help much appreciated.

    Thanks

have you upped the pressure? much like reflective films, I find I have to add considerably more force,

eg. regular Grafityp garment vinyl about 90g of force, the fancy foil types are up to around 140g or more on some cases,

anything other than larger decals and letering is just a waste of effort in my opinon!

Gents & Ladies I’m sorted – managed to get a reply from Graphtec – I had to increase by Force from 14 to 28!

    Goodbye blade

    Merry Christmas

    No worries Billy.

fwiw… I keep a blade aside especially for reflective / tough films and another for regular & textile vinyls, I find the blades last longer that way.
