  • Advice needed on cutter blades please?

Posted by Jonny Jones on November 22, 2013 at 11:48 am

Hi everybody. At the moment I’m using Smart Knives from Edward Mathias in my CE6000-60. I like them, but I was just wondering what everybody else uses? I wouldn’t mind trying some others as a means of comparison.

    Many thanks 🙂

    Stick with ’em.

Been down the road of genuine holders & replaceable blades…

In truth, Edward knows his stuff and supplies a quality product at a fair price so I’m VERY pleased with his products.

genuine blades or renown blades from print one.
mathias blades are good but i cant be doing with faffing around with returning spent cartridges and waiting on new ones etc. 😀

regardless to what you use, production volume over use far far far far far far out weighs the tiny cost of a blade…. did i say FAR? 😀

To be fair, once posted back, you get replacements within a day. Super fast and reliable service 😀

yes, but the savings are not even worth counting. how much are you paying for a blade, around £10?
divide that into the thousands of pounds you should be earning before you need another blade.

buy the "best quality blade" you can get.
buy a pack of five blades, once you load your last, order new.

I would agree with both Dave & Robert.

I agree with Dave when he says to just stick with Edward mathias & I agree with Robert when he says that the cost of replacement blades is so small the saving isn’t really worth thinking about.

I use the smart knives not because they save me any money but because I don’t have to worry about setting the blade up correctly in the holder. Just one less thing for me to worry about. I have 4 of them, one 60 deg & 3 45 deg. One 45 deg is marked for cutting reflective. The other 2 one is in the machine & the other is a spare. When the blade needs changing just pop the spare in & send the used one off. As you say their return time is very fast but the spare is handy just incase there is a hold up.

Two S160T and one D60 all with Ed Mathias blades for over 10 years never had a problem and don’t notice the cost

Thanks for all the replies. It was never about the cost, this thread was just to see if there were any other brands that people recommended. So thanks for the information and reassurance (not that it was needed 🙂 ) of Harry and co’s efforts.

Thanks again for all the info.

We find it insulting that :

you cannot be bothered to write a descriptive topic title, yet YOU expect others to give up "their free time" and "experienced knowledge" to help you?

you cannot be bothered to write a descriptive topic title, which would aid others finding posts based on relevant content.

you cannot be bothered to write a descriptive topic title to follow simple board rules.

That you have broken board rules by using the forum incorrect to quiz us on how the site should be run.

That you have broken board rules by re-editing and removed our mod-edit.

I would suggest looking over our board rules before making any further posts.
