Acrylic Pieces
Posted by Graeme Harrold on 26 January 2009 at 18:18Just a couple of acrylic bits I did recently………
The clock is 10mm clear acrylic profile with the white and gray vinyl on the rear, and the blue to the front mounted on 25mm stand-offs. Standard clock movement with long spindle.
The slats are 5mm frosted acrylic mounted on kit rails from Fairfields Text applied on front (anthracite and silver cast vinyl).

Nice work 🙂 Where do you buy the acrylic sheet and how do you cut it to shape

With regards to cost, the were not the cheapest, but as I got all the stuff from Fairfields it made sense to just give them the order (after knocking the price down a bit). Went to a few suppliers and the price ranged between £35 and £97.
The job was to put the logo on the wall, the clock idea was my addition, and given the shape and the use of 4 mounts it was only natural to stick a movement in the middle.

quote John Dorling:How big is the clock?
500mm round, plus the little leg took the overall size to 534 high.

Cheers…..
It was just a way to transform a simple acrylic logo into a feature……….turned out better than expected. Almost goofed with the assembly as I have a number of clock movements in stock. Fortunately I fitted the battery before fitting and after about 10 mins realised it was a reverse movement………………..DOH!!!
All’s well that ends well :lol1:
