That’s really awful news. I didn’t know Chris apart from on the signboards, but he was always very helpful when people had questions. RIP Chris.
-
Met him a couple of times, such a lovely fella and will be missed by many.
-
Met him a couple of times – lovely guy, we installed a load of window manifestation once too, kept vaguely in touch via facebook and knew he was Ill last year, such a shame to hear this news though.

Have to admit, I was gutted reading this post.
Like most people that have been using this site for the past 19+ years. Chris was a common face to see posting here and always keen to help people out!
I first met Chris in 2007, when around 50+ people from uksignboards.com met at Sign UK exhibition for drinks and a laugh that carried on into the evening and following day.
He was a larger than life guy and a good laugh. met him a couple of times after that, again at the sign exhibitions.Like Hugh, I knew Chris was ill last year as he had let me know, but I was under the impression he had fully recovered and saw him making regular posts on this site up until about one month ago. such a sad loss of a really nice guy…
Chris joins John Childs as another long term member and friend from this site to pass away. RIP lads!

A sad loss my condolences to his family, he was, I’m sure, a husband and father as well as a friendly signmaker

Oh no!
I saw the header and didn’t want to open it as I had a feeling what it was going to be.
I loved Chris, he was one of the nicest guys you would ever meet and I am gutted!
When I first started out he took me under his wing and we worked together quite a few times after. He was always fun to work and it was never a boring day.
I knew he wasn’t well and when he told me I felt numb, I just wish I would have reached out to more in the last few months but with Covid and work I just lost track.
It’s a huge loss to the industry and I’ve lost a friend
RIP Chris

Very sad – I only ever met him once (sign UK 2007) but felt I knew him well as a result of the many posts he made over the years

Very sad news indeed. ☹
I did not know him but I saw many of his posts and always appeared to help others.

That’s very sad news, like others I only met Chris at a couple of times at signs shows in years gone by.
He was always very helpful on the boards and along with Jamie could name any font from 20 paces.
He will be sadly missed and my thoughts are with his family.

Very sad news.
I do not know Chris but I saw lots of his posts on this website over the years. I never post comments but thought I would tonight after reading this. It is odd how you feel like you get to know people online.
R.I.P.

Oh wow, I’m so upset reading this. Chris was a truly great guy. We had many conversations on the boards in the early years. We used to converse on social media until a few years ago when we both lost touch. His font knowledge was legendary. Condolences to all that knew him. I didn’t even know he was ill. This has come as a shock. So sad.

His font knowledge was legendary.
@shane-drew
yep, Chris was always one of a few that you could count on to come in with the answer when stuck. A very helpful guy!
