I could be wrong but unless you are flood coating this material, it shouldn’t be cut in the ways you can glass etch vinyl etc.
I am sure it is a polyester multilayered material. depending on what you plan doing with it I would check with your supplier first.

    Morning Pane
We did a couple of jobs with this earlier this year, I found the best source was from Doro-Tape, they have 2 types, both look the same, both polyester.
The one we used was called Nebula Pro.

Thank you all for the reply.
I have used the dorotape tape one.
Cut shapes on a hair salon in London many years ago. Looked pretty cool.

In this case, my client asked for the 3M one.

Have you seen them both next to each other Gil? Can you tell the difference?

    Hi Pane,

As Rob has already said Dichroic films are not designed to be cut to shape and officially 3M would state for sheet application only. The problem is actually down to using pre-mask, enough pressure during application and then removing the app tape without causing lifting or bubbles.

We have many people who have done it successfully but on very simple shapes – Ideally don’t use app tape if you can, float on as you would with a window film, loads of pressure to get water/fluid out, re-squeegee etc and leave to fully dry.

I have been in the shop today and noticed we have some left, we have used both films – If there is a difference I can’t see it, we went with more expensive option on this job as there was a lot of heat and UV to deal with.
Like Stuart says it is not an easy film to install, and we did have a couple of delamination issues to deal with on first batch of hangers, The next phase of the project we overlaid with a satin laminate, this helped application and adhesion a lot and the effect was interesting.

    Thanks Gil.

This is short term indoor application for 2 months. I hope it is going to be ok.

    Hi Pane

I am just linking to this recent editorial based on ColourShift Aslan SE 70, for obvious reasons.

    My update on this.

Due to the urgency of my job at the time I had no option but to order 3M Dichroic (costed leg and an arm). Looked great and client and I loved it.

I love this effect, it is so different.
What width does it come in Pane, and if you do not mind, approximately how much does it cost per metre?
