  • 1.5mm Acrylic White Sheet, suggestions please?

Posted by Paul Hughes on January 27, 2020 at 10:20 am

Hi, any ideas, suggestions, advice where I might be able to source 1.5mm thick acrylic sheeting in White.

I can get 2mm from one source and 3mm is aplenty, but 1.5mm is a struggle. Any advice would be hugely welcome.

    Cheers Paul

Have you thought about sanding down a 2mm sheet? 😆

What are you using it for – there may be an alternative material that’ll do the job.

To cut in a laser cutter to produce 40mm high door numbers and letters. They need to be raised but not 3mm, which the customers says is too thick……. 1.5mm is the perfect thickness. I’ve ordered some 1.5mm PVC sheeting but would prefer acrylic.

You could try Apet / PETG this product can be lasered and is available in lower gauges including 1.5mm , Stronger than acrylic. Just notice that only the 3mm is in Opal

And don’t laser PVC as it gives off dangerous gasses

The plan was to laser PVC, but if it’s a no no, then so be it……….back to the drawing board.

PVC gives off a type of chlorine gas when cut with a laser, as well as corrode all of the important bits of the machine, will pretty much do you in. Avoid cutting foam on your laser at ALL costs! The client can’t have everything they want, half a millimetre won’t kill them, could kill you though

    What about 1.5mm engraving laminate.
Phenolic such as Traffolite or Eurosign.

Super high gloss faces but sandwich of white/black/white.

David, thanks for your advice about Traffolyte which has led me up a different path to tce.uk.com and has proved an eyeopener on even more options and has solved all my queries. I have a clear path now to solutions…..thanks again to those who contributed to my post.
