Vehicle grade vinyl
HI,
Yesterday I was approached by a local tradesman who wanted to put his company’s information on the side of his trailer.
The trailer is paneled with a sort of plastic which has a hammered finish to it, so that vinyl doesn’t stick very well (he showed me that some of the numbers had fallen off and others were peeling).
I wonder if the answer would be a better quality of vinyl, cast, perhaps, that is more comformable? Alternatively, I thought of cutting stencils from vinyl and painting in the numbers.
While he was showing me this he showed me the van which he was very pleased with, a mate had done it for only a hundred quid and wasn’t it good? Then he noticed that there was dirt around the phone numbers.
I suspect that this is the result of the vinyl shrinking away from the adhesive and dirt then collecting on the exposed adhesive. If this is the case, again could it be caused by cheap vinyl, and improved by the use of a better quality vinyl?
You may guess that I don’t have much experience with vehicles!
Thanks
John
