    Hi All

I have a light box to install and i have been talking to a fitter in another company with regards to the wiring.

This person has informed me that all external illuminated signs (wiring) needs to pass through a firemans switch.

Now i can understand this when it comes to installing such signage on a petrol station forecourt but not for joe bloggs sweet shop.

In the past we have just instructed the client that power is required at X point. Then we just pass the wiring though the wall and attach a plug. This bit about the firemans switch has got me a little worried.

Can anyone enlighten me on this.

    All the best.

    Dan

    Hi Dan,
The firemans switch would be required for illuminated signs which have high voltage, ie Neon etc.
Standard illuminated sign boxes are fine as long as they are fused.
You are probably better arrranging for a fused spur to be put in place for you to connect to.
The massive illuminated signs on retail parks etc. will probably have firemans switches as well though.
