  • What printing equipment have you got?

    Hi All,

Just a quick straw pole to see what equipment members are running.

Roland, Mimaki, Unifrom (b&p), Grenadier, Cadet, Toucan, Rockhopper etc.

Also what do you think of it and what do you mostly print?

Always good to get an idea of what others are up to especially as the membership is spread not just across the UK but globally.

    Cheers

    John

    HI

We are currently running 2 Encads for internal work. The older machine is Encad Pro E 600 which has been a work horse from day 1.

The Encad 850 has been a problem from day 1. The quality is great when you get it working correctly but it can’t be run at it’s maximum speed as the banding is unacceptable.

We also have a JV3 1600sp. This machine has changed our life, It has solved our out door print problems and also increased productivity by reducing labor. The trade may tell you that lamination is not necessary, We disagree as the print can be damaged in the mounting process.

We have just purchased the new Zund 250 flat bed UV printer and expect the installation in mid Jan 05. Watch this space for the sign makers view on this machine!

    best regards

    Graham

Roland Soljet sc540 pro II EX – prints just about anything , wonderful machine – hassle free – prints that are handled need lams
PC 60 and a 5000 thermal – print mainly gold and silver , flaky at best but it works like gangbusters for us – dont do anything bigger than a6

Busjet Solvent flatjet – amazing high resolution machine that prints on anything 10cm thick , very profitable – 330 x 480 x 100mm printing , exceptional prints , about 2 quid per sq meter.

Multiple Epson 890/1290’s – prints on inkjet vinyl and photo type paper for doming , promo stuff etc – slow , expensive carts , we laser kiss cut the vinyl output – output is NOT at all durable unless domed etc.

I suppose you can consider a laser engraver as a printer too
So we have 3 x GCC explorers – a license to print money – I would advise a sign co to buy one of these way before buying a digital printer!!! they all work 10 hrs a day and we could do with 3 more.
