I got an invite from one of suppliers to go to a training day for Avery 900 series. Off i went and had a bit of a play around on a rental car they had there.
The next week i got a call from one of the car yards that we do work for asking me if i could do this job. I jumped at the chance and said yes. I had no idea how long it would take me or exactly how much material i would need, so i quoted on the high side for everything and got the job. Made plenty of money out of it and also got a second car from them to do.

It isnt as hard as you would think. If you take you time and make sure you start in the right place you will be fine. I wasted a bit of material starting from the wrong point on the panel and having to start again, but it was worth it.

I would reccomend it to anyone to just have a go. Get yourself some 900 Avery and start wrappping, you will be shocked at how forgiving the material is.

great work mate.. glad you took the plunge.. its always worth throughing yourself in the deepend.. well some times 😉 always far greater job satisfaction. well done! (hot)

avery 900? its a cast.. yeh? i havent tried to wrap anything with that type of cast. but would still feel a little unsure of it staying put..
from your pics. i couldnt reall see anyplace you may get probs, so i wouldnt worry.
but be careful. i hear far to many suppliers jumping on the wagon saying their cast, “thats been on the market for years”. is now capable of wrapping? 🙄
makes you wonder why companies like KPMF, MACtac and others went to the bother of creating a purpose made vinyl for wrapping if their own cast brands would have done the trick anyway.. 😉 something to think about.
having said that. im not saying its not possible. take a look at my demo on oracal.. its capable of wrapping.. but i would not advise it to the day to day sign maker. nor would i suggest it over “any wrap vinyl”

i have the avery cd showing a demo of them wrapping a small section of a audi TT.. worked very well.. looked great! but it wasnt anything severe or really aukward.. ive worked with many vinyls.
the one with wrap vinyls is just how much distortion you can acheive. mactac warp vinyl turned into a rubber band, if thats how to discribe it 😆 hit it with heat and it shrinks back to form.. same with kpmf, but i felt it didnt stretch just as far as mactac, but was easier to apply!
any vinyls i have tested in the same fashion as a wrap that wasnt, did stretch etc but went a little out of shape if re-heated more than once and sort of stayed that way. nothing severe but enough to stop it laying flat..

anyways… vinyls is something im always interested in.. so ide welcome anymore feedback you have.

(if any avery reps read this post.. please send me some samples to play around with.. ill eat my words if im wrong about the above & post a thread on my finds) 😉

ill get of my high horse now! 😉

The material is Avery 900 new generation. We have only just got it here in Aus. You have to make sure it is the 900 NG or it wont work.

no problem mate.. i will do.. just ignore me 😉 im always this way with vinyls.. too sarky for my own good 😳

i did mean what i said though.. i will get round to trying it. i have heard many people say its good. i dont mean to knock it so much.. but i have heard a few give me bad feedback too.

to be honest. v-wrap or cast, it normaly comes down to the person applying it. ive heard horror stories about some wrap vinyls yet the same stuff i get perfect results. could be just a preference thing.. who really knows? we blame suppliers if it goes wrong, suppliers revert to us.. 🙄
